I've always admired people who know how to can. I'm such a germophobe that I've never tried it for fear that I'd do something wrong and give my family botulism. But this new Ball Canning Discovery Kit ($11.99) seems idiot proof so that even newbies like me can successfully make everything from salsas to chutneys using freshly picked fruits and vegetables from my garden and not make anyone sick.
